When Al and I were in Long Beach last month we saw some absolutely amazing embroidered art. Below are links and some tidbits about these impressive pieces of art.
Embroidered George Washington Portrait
A portrait of George Washington was a real show piece; it was the overall Grand Champion of the Impressions' 37th Annual Awards. Zhanna Plaksina of Quito, Ecuador digitized and embroidered the Washington portrait.
Embroidery to Commemorate Pope Francis' Ecuador Visit
Ms. Plaksina also digitized and embroidered a portrait of Pope Francis and the embroidered rendering of “Sorrows of Quito”. The portrait and “Sorrows of Quito” commemorated Pope Francis’ Ecuador visit in July 2015.
Ms. Plaksina combined an engineering background and her artistic abilities and interest in classic art. If you are interested, more information on Ms. Plaksina can be found in the links below.
